Ganapathi Rao Sanku (from left first person) has recently entered the field of Telugu literature with the laudable intention of awakening our evil-ridden society from its moral slumber.  In doing so, he has also succeeded in highlighting the richness of the Telugu language and its unique idioms.
Ganapathi Rao Sanku is a career journalist from Visakhapatnam who later moved to Chennai where he made contributions to film journals.  Having himself suffered the travails of the underprivileged in today's materialistic Indian society throughout his life, it was only a matter of time for Ganapathi Rao to take to writing and that too books reflecting ineqalities and injustices perpetrated by our society on its helpless and unfortunate members.

"Marige Thaarusarovaram released in May 2011 was the maiden foray of Ganapathi Rao into the rarefied world of literati.  A compilation of ten short fictional stories each holding a mirror more devastating that the other to the ills affecting our society, the book stands out for its exploitation of the short story format conventionally used for titillation to drive home various ugly truths of life to the readers.
Encouraged by the response from the press and readers alike in India and abroad, Ganapathi Rao released his other four books with ominous titles, Nippula Toofan (September 2012), Intimeedha Dhuppati, Paamula Puttallo Chattasabhalu and fifth and current one is Aakupachcha Antukundhi.  These books too are a compilation of dramatically told short stories.

The author's choice of Telugu idiom and his word play definitely deserve as much recognition as his motive for writing these five books does.  Books written for readers' pleasure and leisure reading are aplenty, but such attempts at social introspection and reform are indeed rare and urgently need to be rewarded amply.
